I talk often about having hopes/dreams/desires – and I absolutely think that’s important – but lately I’m realizing what a huge difference it makes to have a YES from God on those areas.

Because here’s the thing. When we decide on our own hopes and desires, we can easily second guess ourselves. When things don’t seem to be working out – or when a “good enough” version comes around we think, “well maybe my hopes were just too high?”

But when GOD gives you the dream or desire, there’s no second guessing. There’s no settling. It’s time to start letting HIM set our expectations.

It’s not based on entitlement, but on trust. When you trust that was He has for you is far beyond what you could even dream up or achieve for yourself, it kind of doesn’t really matter what else happens or what comes along. It makes it easy to rely on the TRUTH of what He has given you, rather than on emotions.

This is something I’ve been experiencing a lot over the past few months. I can’t exactly explain it other than the whole “when you know you know” sort of thing. I’ve gotten a very clear YES from God in certain areas of my life, so when something seems off from that…I know with certainty that it is.

So I want to encourage you today – have you asked God what He has for you? Have you asked Him if the things you’re dreaming for or working toward are part of His plan? Grab a journal and write down your answers. It can be a bit of a scary question to ask, but I can promise you that if you leave room for the impossible in your life, God will fill in the spaces…Just Believe.

Stories behind the Hotels

Hotels where all come to experience different lifestyle, one that you do not get at your home and to breathe different air when you visit a different country. But what we do not know is that some of make the most unforgivable sins and mistakes of their lives. But who are we to judge, especially if you are just an employee in one of these Hotels.

Its now been two years i have been employed in the Hotel industry. It’s been exhausting but worth it at times. The stories you get to hear and you have to forward to the management or sometimes, you find these stories too childish that you decide to just lend a helping hand not expecting a price after.

Most of the old men, love the Hotels to enjoy their young birds – Nairobi ladies. Even the most prominent people. Men come with two-three girls, drinks, the touching and misbehaving not caring who’s watching or who’s listening. They become familiar faces in the Hotel for their daily visits and they are known by the entire staff. We have to treat them like loyalty. They have that specific room that no other guest should be given to. Sometimes, they would call to reserve the room, especially during the weekends. remember the girls they are coming with are different everyday. Know to be men in their 40’s or even older, its clear that they are married and have family. Some even have the guts to leave their valuables at the Reception; wedding ring, wallets, expensive watches and other things simply because Nairobi ladies are Gold diggers and thieves.

I have experienced different gay/lesbians coming to make a booking. Not judging. The gay couples mostly were white men and black men and the lesbian team came mostly black to black. There was a gay couple that was also familiar to the Hotel premises. An old white man and young black man, they looked like they met in Coast because the black man was too fluent with the Kiswahili accent of Mombasa. But he seemed proud in what he was doing. He knew that we know, but that did not bother him. He was proud of who he was and I am not in a position to judge.

Some of the guest who come to visit Kenya, and the period comes and they want, ‘some some’ – alil pleasure. They would approach the Reception and ask if we could call a taxi to bring him any girl from the streets or he would ride with the taxi and the taxi should take him to the Nairobi areas where he could pick up a girl. And you wonder surely why? But men have been created different and I cannot judge. These are the men who leave all there valuables at the reception because of theft. Not knowing where this lady is from and who he is.

Am not going to leave the women out, the rich and independent women, mostly in there 40’s also used to come with their young boys to enjoy themselves. I have seen a young boy the age of 19 -22 years old walk in with an old woman. She was mostly in her mid 40’s or 50’s but she looked good. She definitely knows how to take care of herself. We do take ID’S and passport of the guests, so i do know what am talking about.

But anyways, only God can Judge. I cannot.

There are so many untold stories but what do we do as employees, as long as i get my payroll at the end of the month.

How I deal with stress and How you can deal with it too

Stress. It’s one of those sneaky things that can actually rule your entire life without you even fully realizing it.

If I’m being honest, stress has been at the forefront of my life for longer than I’d care to admit. I’ve kind of given myself the excuse of living with stress without thinking there was anything I could do about it.

But here’s the thing I’ve been learning about stress – it actually has very little to do with your circumstances, and so much more to do with your mindset/attitude.

After a recent experience of stress in my life, I had what I’d like to call an “oh HELL no” moment where I decided I just don’t want to live that way anymore. Living under the fog of stress is not what I want for the rest of my adult life which let’s be honest, isn’t going to get any easier. I decided that instead of succumbing to stress as a “normal” part of life – I was going to fight it with everything I’ve got.

So here are some things that have helped me become free from stress, and I think they can help you do the same;

This is absolutely the first and most important step in becoming free from stress. God makes it very clear that we are not to worry and to seek and peace and I fully believe that He can deliver us fully from all stress, fear, and anxiety. Often times its just a matter of asking Him.

Face the issue when (if) it actually happens.
Often, the main trigger of stress is worrying about something before it actually happens. This happens to most of us. This are made up scenarios which no matter how likely or unlikely they may happen, they become a reality in our minds. So why not just face the issue when it comes rather than let it paralyze us in fear and stress before its even a reality?

Take one day at a time.
Of course life will always have times that you have to consider the future. But as much as you can, try to finish each day and be done with it.

Break the idea that stress is normal.
The lie that stress is a “normal” part of life is one of the biggest and easiest lies to believe. Especially when you are faced with a small problem, do not take it to an extreme that it overwhelms you.  Think and see if this problem is worth it? A practical thing that has helped me is, I look back at the end of the day and see that I did in fact accomplish a lot, and stress doesn’t have to be a part of that equation.

Unplug from technology when you can.
This is something I definitely need to work on 😉 It’s still a struggle, but I’d love to get to the point where I’m off my phone/computer for an hour or two in the morning and before going to bed at night.Well, we all know this is just a rumor for most of us.. Because this phones are more stressful than anything else.  My life practically revolves around my phone. If i cannot find it, 100% stress just fly through me.

Don’t verbally affirm that you’re stressed.
When I feel stress creeping in, one of the first things I do is open my journal and write down all of the things I’m thankful for. The power of gratitude beats the grips of stress every time.

Repeat this things on a daily basis and you will see that it does work out.
